Brooke says Hello!…….Entry for February 6, 2008

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

She is Brooke! Daughter of Jim and Brenda Corday. She will be a teenager next month (March 14) if you believe it or not. Our children are getting so big.
Brooke plays two sports in school, Basketball and soccer. She has become a talented team leader and a beautiful young lady. Her grades are awesome. She has wonderful support from her mom, our sister Brenda, and her father Jim that attends almost all of her events. Brooke also remains active in theater productions in school.

On top of this hectic daily routine Brooke has adapted well to being a big sister to 2 year old Rebecca. In a conversation with her over the weekend, she was at a sleepover at her best friends house. Brooke says hello and if you miss her like I do, you can say so right here. Thanks for stopping by.

“I am Godzilla!”…….Entry for January 15, 2008

New York City gets destroyed in “Cloverfield,” the silly-sounding monster movie that opens Friday. New York was destroyed in “Independence Day,” in “Escape from New York,” in “I Am Legend,” in “The Day After Tomorrow,” in “Planet of the Apes,” in “A.I.,” in “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow,” in the 1998 “Godzilla” remake, in all three King Kong movies, in the Tom Cruise movie version of “War of the Worlds,” in the radio version of “War of the Worlds” and now in the Godzilla-esque “Cloverfield.” How about a disaster movie that destroys Florida or Ohio?

I liked all these movies and most recently I saw “I am Legend” and was extremely impressed with the special effects. I think more than the plot….I am thinking “How the HELL did they do that?

When Joshua. Jonathan and I rent old movies to watch, I have managed to sneak in some old classics that I liked when I was a kid. For some reason it is a slight disappointment. It’s not like I remember it. Todays movies are so real and loud and ferocious that can we even imagine where they will be in 10 years from now? Right now I need a movie that is down to earth. That is real. That is romantic. That is safe. After “I am Legend”…I need real life…..

when jonny was young
all this i saw and remembered in a glimpse
the sun bleached white curls
the FIRE in his eyes
shirtless and sunburned
cuts, bruises and bugbites
running across freshcut grass
rolling and tumbling in the glare of the sun
summer angels wipe his brow
he was
living life
loving life
all this
I saw and remembered
in a glimpse

Elizabeth Anime…….Entry for May 9, 2007

Friday, May 8th, 2009

In my journeys through Josh and Jonnies boyhood world, we go through many bookstores, collection shops, comic book stores and toyshops. They are involved in collecting….almost anything and everything. (I think it runs in the family through Dad and Greg). I have watched anime grow and grow to what is now: a mult-million dollar market! And the strange thing is….most of the people we see reading and purchasing it…..are not childre….but adults. Escaping into a graphic novel seems to be an easy way to get away from the realities of the daily hustle and bustle. Ann and Garys Elizabeth has a talent for this craft that can only grow and get more amazing. Check it out on the ARTWORK page in THINGS!

In Bernadettes words: “Larry’s son matt has graduated basic training, and he just got his orders for Iraq!!! He is in washington state now and leaves for Iraq in April….” In my words: At Grants wedding…..my greatest talk was with Larry about his experience in Iraq……and not how frightened he was to be there and the missions he went on…….but what it did to him emotionally when he got home….and how it affected him and Bernadette, his job and family. A family Blog certainly isn’t a place to express political views or my opinion on anything of that nature. I don’t know Matt…I never met him. I can see so much of Larry in him….but he is JUST A KID. My greatest tool of gratitude is that by the time I get to my night job in New York…I have access to every newspaper laying around….I don’t know how I feel about Iraq anymore but I know that ALOT of people are dying horrible deaths. I find gratitude that I woke up today….I have every limb….I can see…..I can feel….the snow is falling right now….there is such peace…our streets and cities are not being bombed….we are free…..only because of kids like Matt. Say a prayer for him.

Just wanted to ask everyone to say a small prayer for our brother Glenn. He has been very sick for quite awhile now in jail. He is in alot of physical and emotional pain. He has terrible body and head aches. His hands shake so violently that he he cannot draw. His letters are short and artless. His words were to the point…”pray for me.” His loneliness and depression was compounded by the thoughts of everyone, including his children, going to Grant and Vikis wedding.
Ask God to give him moments of freedom…from pain and loneliness.
Thanks

In countless ways, the Internet is radically enhancing our access to information and empowering us to share ideas with the entire world. Speech thrives online, freed of limitations inherent in other media and created by traditional gatekeepers.

Preserving the Internet’s open architecture is critical to sustaining free speech. But this technological capacity means little without sufficient legal protections. If laws can censor you, limit access to certain information, or restrict use of communication tools, then the Internet’s incredible potential will go unrealized.

The government has time and again tried doing just that—indeed, censorship laws have often aimed at speech that could not be similarly restricted offline. And when old laws are not properly adapted to this medium, it’s all too easy for the government, companies, and individual litigants to undermine your rights.

I cant believe Summer is sinking into the mountains. Florida escaped another Hurricane. Belinda is going to have a baby. Grant is getting married for the second time. Beverly was married three times not two. Greg may never get married. And now it is getting busy again for me at work. Sometimes I stay late and throw some photos togther and try to add a little something to this web site when I can. It has been an incrediable journey for me so far. Going through thousands of photos, millions of memories….sometimes I have laughed….sometimes I have cried. I was never a very good big brother. I missed ALL your weddings and I wish I could blame everything on the insanity of my last marriage. Putting this web site together has helped me heal a little bit…and I miss everyone alot. I really think that if we can keep it together….the REAL vaule of this web site isn’t today….but it will be ten….twenty years down the road….our children….our childrens children……our childrens childrens children….lol. I always wanted this to be OUR web site….you can take it…or leave it…I don’t care I am having fun and learning alot…about web software, development and animation. You really can say whatever you want…..if you are happy…..or bitter.
This is the open invitation…call me….write me….send me photos……of you…..your kids……your pets….send me poems….letters…..If you want to make a Blog post/with a photo…..without a photo…..if you want to take something down..put something up…just let me know…..this is our website.
Tommorow I hope to have updates in Britts page. Finally a page for Ohio in Places and a long weekend….a couple of BBQs…..some rest……siging off

Prayer for a Safe Pregnancy…….Entry for August 23, 2006

Friday, May 8th, 2009

This life you have given us
is so tiny, fragile, and vulnerable,
safe in the womb of flesh and hope,
yet subject to danger.
O God of love, creator of life,
hear our prayer.
We want this baby so much.
Please grant this child of ours
a full term of nurture,
the joy and mystery of life,
and the blessing of your love.
Grant us the fulfillment of our dreams,
a baby to cherish and protect,
a child to teach and guide,
a blessing to our family.
Amen.
